Today the team became whole. Riders arrived and got to know each other. The day started with an icebreaker where people connected and found some commonalities. They shared where they came from, knowing we’re all headed in the same direction (at least for the near future).

Bikes were put taken out of boxes and put back together and many tires were changed.
Then, the real fun began as everyone began to learn about safety and policies. Safety is one of the top priorities so there were some significant presentations about how to ride safely on the road.

Riders wowed the fluorescent socks off the leaders with their hilarious and informative skits about policies.
At the end of the day, our host, St. Luke’s provided a wonderful dinner of burgers, and the leaders did a presentation about Bike & Build and affordable housing. The pastor blessed he bikes and gave a moving speech about the power of being involved in your community and the value of what CUS19 is doing.
It was an extremely promising and exciting first day.

Side note from Celete: we wouldn’t stop bothering Anna about how cute this hat looks on her, so she ended up getting one. You can to at the Bike & Build gear store if you dig it.
